What a great ride to Datca. There was a stretch of about 40km from Marmaris to Datca that I would say is the best riding I've had since I've been here. Not the best scenery, that was on Day 1 near Kas..but def the best roads, curves, hills, and the scenery wasn't bad either. (Photos.) Closer to Datca it got very windy, as evidence by the additional wind farm nearby and the numerous kite surfers and wind surfers.
So I hear I sit, poolside, at the final hotel on the motorcycle portion of the trip. The Marphe Hotel. Not sure what tonight holds in store...I'm sure you'll know soon enough though!
A side note re: music. So yesterday, after riding with just my thoughts for 2 days, I decided to pump some tunes into my helmet. Just your standard phillyfresh potpourri; Gaga, The Beatles, Rick Ross, the Gipsy Kings, a little Marc Anthony (the Salsa stuff only), and the normal mix of stuff I like. Then, while riding along from Soke to Marmaris today, it was like the finger of Zeus himself reached down and chose a track. Of course he queued up "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins. I channeled my inner Tom Cruise, and blasted off down the perfectly timed straightaway and took it "as high as you can go", which in this case was 150km/hr. Shaking my fist in the air as an F18 blew by me low in the sky.
It was glorious.
