Upping the ante....

Things just got considerably more difficult.
They say that there are only 2 kinds of luggage, carryon and lost.
And after "20 plus years" of travelling, I have now become a victim to the latter.
One would figure that it is impossible to lose a bag on a direct flight. This, my friends, is a fallacy. The friendly Detroit based flight crew and NYC based ground crew of Delta Flight 72 managed to pull it off!
When I said I had all I needed in my trusty North Face duffel, that was 98% true. However, being that it was already oversized for carryon, I figured to jam a few things in with my Istanbul/wedding garb, and grab them at the carousel before transferring. So now, among the missing items, they do include:
- my heavily indexed, read through, marked up, page corner folded Lonely Planet Turkey guidebook. (Difficulty of replacement 7 out of 10.) Try finding one in English!
- 1 can of spray waterproof coppertone sunscreen (DOR 1 out of 10)
- 1 Right Guard anti perspirant/deodorant stick. (DOR 1 out of 10 or 9 out of 10.) Eric says that no men in Turkey wear it anyway. So maybe I will just rough it? Not likely. But if they don't wear it, does that also mean they don't sell it? It's like the chicken or the egg...
- RevIt motorcycle riding jacket. ( DOR 3 out of 10, can rent from Bike Turkey)
- Asus EEE pc netbook. ( DOR 10 out of 10.) Just not going to happen.

So here I sit, cramped thumbs, small screen, and Droid laden with typos...punching this blog out on my Droid Incredible 2. It's going to be difficult to post photos in a timely manner. Other than that, I will try and keep up with the postings via this method, public laptop, or internet cafe.

Rest assured this blog will go on. I'll get the photos posted retroactively if need be...but they will be there.
