Some of the most beautiful riding I've ever done. Kalkan to Kas, all coastal roads right along the Aegean, bluer than you could dream of. Wonderful rocks and vegetation run straight up the mountainside from the road. What a great ride with lots of twisties and limited automobile traffic.
Over-shot Kas by about 5km, but doubled back now and am lunching at the Noel Baba Cafe. Apparently the people of Turkiye have some idea that Santa Claus was born here in the SW of Turkey. I can guarantee its not true though. 1, if he was born here, its too beautiful to have left, so he never would have. And 2, every American knows the Santa is from the North Pole and lives there with Mrs Clause and the keebker elves. Or maybe Santa wears red & white just like the Turkish flag because he is in fact a Turk?!
Anywho, back to the riding and scenery. If I had stopped at each one of the "most beautiful beaches I had ever seen" in the past 30 km ...it would take me 3 days to complete this leg instead of 3 hours.
All else is going well. I've got a great loaner jacket (Dainese) from Robert at Bike Turkey, so that problem is resolved. Guidebooks I'm going to do without. The other knick-knacks worked themselves out.
Side note....there is watermelon everywhere...its the go to side of the road snack...sold by a cart pushing peddler prob every other km.
