On the road Day 3 (on the bike)...

From Afrodisias, its on to Sirince. I'm taking the scenic route on this one, as this is a motorcycle tour, and touring is part of the trip.
A bunch of mountains roads soon after I've left Afrodisias. It's a lot of fun riding these kinds of roads, so many switchbacks, cutbacks, and broke backs...really putting this beemer to the test. A lot more riding in farm country and through small villages. It's so strange the setup here. Every small village I pass, all the men are sitting in the shade at a local cafe drinking tea and shooting the shit. Then I ride ahead 2km, and all the women are working the fields, driving the tractors, and harvesting the watermelons! This must have been the case in 10 small towns I went through. Men's suffrage has a long way to go in this country, but maybe one day they will be on par with their female counterpart.
Another stop for a clif bar and an Orange Fanta, the snack of champions. Back to the road. Its mostly highway and riding from city to city for the rest of the afternoons ride. The whole trip from Odemis to Sirince is on "heavily" trafficked roads. It mostly involved passing trucks when I had the opportunity to overtake. I had a nice little passing/drafting routine going with a Renault, it was just like Daytona, nose to tail. Well not that close, but you know what I mean. This route from Odemis all the day to Izmir must be called the "Melon Route." Just trucks full of watermelon barreling down the roadway.
I've finally arrived to Sirince. Seems like a little Hansel & Grettle town. The Gullu Konaklari is the nicest place I've stayed yet (or appears to be so far.) I'm going to chill out now, then go for a looksie around town here and maybe a quick ride down to Selcuk to explore a little there.
Final tally on the day is 315km FYI, 7 hours with a longish stop at Afrodisias.
